"By forty, guys should know how to launder things properly. Don't leave it to your Mum or your wife: if it's important to you then learn how to launder it", says Tarling. "I use colour catchers. They look like a piece of tissue, you put them in with your laundry and they catch the colour that runs from your washing.

"Guys should know how to iron as well. If they want a really sharp looking shirt, they should spray starch on it in between running the iron over it. It keeps them crisp and smelling amazing. You shouldn't have to rely on the other half to make you look smart."
