55th Annual Louisiana Redbud Festival to be Held on Saturday, March 16 in Downtown Vivian
VIVIAN, La., March 11, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The 55th Annual Louisiana Redbud Festival welcomes the spring season by celebrating redbud trees blossoming throughout North Louisiana. This family-friendly festival includes a pancake breakfast, 5k run, parade, car show, rodeo, carnival, food and craft vendors, live entertainment and more.

New to this year's festival is the LRCA Redbud Rodeo. This outdoor rodeo experience includes adult and child contestants competing in categories such as calf roping, barrel racing, bull riding and more for a chance to compete at the LRCA Rodeo at the State Fair of Louisiana. The rodeo competitions begin at 7:30 p.m. on March 15 and continue through March 16 at the Vivian City Arena, 455 Rivers Street in Vivian. Admission is $5-$10.
The Louisiana Redbud Festival will begin with a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at North Caddo Medical Center Café, 815 South Pine Street in Vivian. For more than 25 years, this popular sunrise event has served the community with pancakes, breakfast meats, juices and more. Admission is $5-$6.
The 19th Annual Louisiana Redbud 5k Run and Health Walk will begin at 8 a.m. at Vivian United Methodist Church, 223 West Louisiana Avenue in Vivian, and ends at Vivian Town Hall, 1003 South Spruce Street in Vivian. A $100 cash prize will be rewarded to first place male and female competitors. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and entry fees are $10-$20.
The 55th Annual Redbud Parade will roll out at 2 p.m. beginning at North Caddo Magnet High, 201 Airport Drive in Vivian, and travel north on Highway 1. Parade participants include local school bands and cheerleaders, car show contestants, community organizations, first respondents, Redbud Pageant winners, elected officials and more.
The Miller Spectacular Carnival offers an assortment of popular rides such as the Eclipse, X-Scream, as well as kiddie rides and more. Concession stand favorites will be available for purchase such as cotton candy, funnel cakes, candy apples and more. The carnival will be held in the vacant lot next to Walmart, 929 South Pine Street in Vivian, March 13-16. The carnival hours are 6 p.m., Wednesday-Thursday; 5:30 p.m., Friday; and noon on Saturday. Admission is free.
