Body found on fire in Brisbane suburb of Yeronga, on Rome St
A burning body was discovered on a vacant block in a Brisbane suburb in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police attended Rome Street in Yeronga, in Brisbane’s south about 6.30am after reports a body had been found alight.
Crews are on the scene investigating where a crime scene has been set up, and the road blocked.
Regional Duty Officer Inspector Laurie Shevlin told reporters it was “quite a gruesome scene”.

“Police were called to quite a gruesome scene where an unidentified person was found what’s appeared to be deceased down by the river on a vacant block,” he said.
“It’s obviously quite a tragic time for the families.
“First responders are always confronted with traumatic situations, some worse than others,” he said.
The body was reportedly still burning when it was found.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
