Wichita, KS -

Mozzy was detained by police over the weekend after a shooting erupted at a concert afterparty, injuring seven people.

According to TMZ, the Sacramento, California rapper was questioned by cops in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday night (July 1) after shots were fired at a nightclub called City Nightz, not far from the venue where Mozzy had performed hours earlier.

Graphic footage of the incident shows chaos erupting inside the club after multiple shots were fired, with blood splatter staining the street outside the club’s doors.

Police said the victims were men and women ranging in age from 21 to 34. Five were taken to local hospitals via ambulance and two suffered “traumatic injuries” as a result of being trampled during the crowd rush.

Another video shows Mozzy being handcuffed by police and led away for questioning following a traffic stop in the aftermath of the shooting. TMZ reports the rapper was only briefly detained and was released without being charged.

The same can’t be said for a member of his entourage, though, who was reportedly arrested on suspicion of being one of the triggermen. Police said they aren’t ruling out additional shooters as they believe four guns were fired inside the club.

“Alcohol and firearms do not mix,” Wichita Police Department Chief Joe Sullivan said at a news conference on Sunday morning (July 2).

“There is going to be an extensive investigation and we are going to find out how firearms got into this club and who is responsible for bringing them in there.”

The scary incident comes less than two months after Mozzy regained his freedom after being released from prison early in his federal gun case.

The 36-year-old served 10 months behind bars and was hit with a $55,000 fine after turning himself in to federal authorities last July.

His conviction stemmed from an incident in January 2022 when police officers pulled him over in Culver City, California on a traffic stop.

After claiming they caught a whiff of “burnt marijuana,” cops searched his car and discovered a Glock 26, 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition and a “personal use” amount of marijuana. Mozzy was booked and released after posting $35,000 bail.
