Hosts can shut out Red Devils

Liverpool have had the better of this rivalry in recent years with only three defeats in their past 17 meetings with United in all competitions.

The previous four encounters between these giants do not make great reading for United supporters, with one win and three heavy defeats against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

After a 7-0 thrashing in their last visit to Anfield, United have scored just one goal in their past eight visits to the Merseyside ground.

The Red Devils are on a miserable run with just one win in their previous five games in all competitions, and things will not get any easier when they make the short trip to their old rivals.

Liverpool have kept three clean sheets in their past four home games in the Premier League – and with that in mind, they should be able to keep United off the scoresheet on their way to victory.

Salah can haunt United once again

To judge by his goalscoring record, Mohamed Salah seems to relish when he gets to run out against Manchester United.

The Egypt international has played against the Red Devils on 12 occasions and has netted a dozen times against them.

In the most recent meetings, Salah has made a habit of getting on the scoresheet more than once against United.

The former Chelsea forward has scored two braces and one hat-trick in his past four encounters with United.

Liverpool could run riot this afternoon and Salah to score two or more goals is certainly worth considering at 4/1.

Liverpool the hot shots

Looking at a bet builder selection, the first leg is for Darwin Nunez to have two or more shots on target.

The Uruguayan bagged two goals in his previous meeting with United, and going into this week’s games Nunez is ranked seventh for most shots on target in the entire Premier League this season.

He should add at least a couple of efforts to his 18 shots on target in the top flight this term – and the in-form Trent Alexander-Arnold is capable of getting at least one on target.

The England international has been performing scintillatingly and could well have opportunities to get forward in this game, while also being Liverpool’s primary free-kick taker.

Alexander-Arnold to get a shot on target is the second selection in this bet builder, while under 4.5 total cards completes it.

While many expect the cautions to be flying around in this potentially feisty encounter, the games at Anfield between these rivals have not produced that many bookings.

Under 4.5 total cards would have landed in six of the past seven meetings between these sides at Anfield and could well land again.

Liverpool vs Manchester United tip 3: Bet builder: Darwin Nunez 2+ shots on target, Trent Alexander-Arnold 1+ shot on target and under 4.5 total cards @ 8/1 with Paddy Power
